I’m here to tell you about thegameoflife.website

I’m very happy to “medium launch” The Game of Life today. It’s being highlighted as part of the Exhibitionisms virtual opening “B” today, from 4-7pm (CST), but it’s permanent home is at thegameoflife.website. The show is also at Space & Time and Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Chicago, as well, but currently not on view due to Covid-19 restrictions (a good thing, of course).

I will have some more to say about this project soon, but for now, I’m running on zero sleep and I need eat something besides Pizza (don’t know what I capitalized that, but I will honor my error as a hidden intention). But putting it together – all the way, not part way, not abandoning it or losing faith halfway through – was an important thing for me, personally, and I’m really proud of it. I don’t always feel that way, and this entire year and the people who are directly responsible for it can fuck off, so this feels like a holiday for me.

I should also mention that it’s not quite done. The final version for Exhibitions will go live on December 13, and it’ll include at least twice as much “content” as the current version, as well as a few new aspects/”features” that make it interactive and, possibly, an actual “game”. I very much intended and want to make it into a full-fledged game you can participate in, with endings and items and sidequests and the like. With any luck, I’ll be able to build those in during the next two weeks.
